Energy & Loss Prevention

Smart technology can notice conditions that are easy to miss and help reduce damage, waste, and avoidable expense. Start with the risk or recurring cost that matters most, then expand only where it adds practical value.

— WATER, MOISTURE, AND FREEZING —

• Detect water beneath sinks, toilets, water heaters, and HVAC equipment.

• Place leak alerts beside washing machines, dishwashers, refrigerators, and freezers.

• Shut off the main water supply automatically when a compatible sensor confirms a leak.

• Warn you when indoor temperatures approach pipe-freezing conditions.

• Track excessive humidity in bathrooms, basements, crawlspaces, and storage areas.

• Alert you when a sump pump loses power, stops responding, or reaches a high-water condition.

• Watch irrigation or outdoor watering zones for unusually long run times or excess moisture.

— HEATING, COOLING, AND EVERYDAY ENERGY USE —

• Adjust the thermostat when everyone leaves and restore comfort before someone returns.

• Pause heating or cooling when a protected door or window remains open.

• Reduce conditioning in unused rooms when compatible zoning equipment is available.

• Run ceiling or exhaust fans in response to temperature, humidity, or occupancy.

• Use sunrise, sunset, and daylight levels instead of fixed lighting schedules.

• Turn off selected lights, fans, and plug-in devices after a room becomes vacant.

• Shut down entertainment and office equipment overnight to reduce standby use.

• Track compatible device energy use to find equipment that runs more than expected.

— APPLIANCES AND HOME SYSTEMS —

• Alert you when a refrigerator or freezer temperature rises beyond a safe setting.

• Notify you when laundry, a dishwasher cycle, or another compatible appliance finishes.

• Report selected appliance errors, open doors, water-supply problems, or drain problems.

• Create filter, battery, maintenance, and seasonal service reminders.

• Coordinate a dehumidifier or air purifier with humidity or air-quality readings.

• Monitor for unusual electrical activity using compatible whole-home detection equipment.

— AWAY, VACATION, AND PEAK-USE ROUTINES —

• Put climate, lighting, shades, and selected appliances into an efficient Away mode.

• Create a Vacation mode that protects plumbing while preserving pets, plants, and sensitive equipment.

• Notify you of a power loss or an important device going offline while the home is empty.

• Shut off selected plug-in loads remotely after confirming they are safe to disconnect.

• Shift compatible appliances or EV charging toward preferred off-peak hours.

• Restore a safe, predictable equipment state after power or internet service returns.

— IMPORTANT —

Savings, insurance programs, and product capabilities vary. Automatic water, electrical, HVAC, and other trade-connected work must be selected and installed or coordinated within applicable requirements. Convenience automations should not be treated as guaranteed life-safety protection.
